Mineralocorticoid Receptor (MR) activation and Hypertension

Inappropriate activation of MR leads to hypertension and organ damage. We showed that Rac1, a GTPase, is involved in over-activation of MR in heart failure (Hypertension 2016). We also found that decreased metabolic enzyme of glucocorticoid in the kidney leads to activation of MR and subsequent hypertension (Hypertension 2017). Activation of MR and the downstream molecules can be good targets for tailor-made medicine depending on the conditions of patients with hypertension and organ damage.
